The Villa Park Warriors Youth Football and Cheer program understands the health and safety of the children we serve is our highest priority. While we, as a community, continue to navigate the rapidly changing world we now live in brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic we will continue to keep our promise to you that above all else, we will put the safety of your children and our coaches first.

With this in mind, we have made the decision to reschedule opening weekend and will not hold practice or games this weekend, along with practice the following week. With no games scheduled for Labor Day weekend, this now gives us two full weeks to review and refine any necessary protocols to mitigate any future interruptions to our season.

We’d like to remind everyone that while you may have heard that athletes are not participating in practice and are under quarantine, a player or coach can be placed under quarantine for displaying any COVID-19 symptoms or for being a close contact of a reported positive case. Not all participants currently under quarantine are confirmed positive cases, and should a quarantined participant provide confirmation of a COVID-19 diagnosis, a notification will be sent by the league to all parents and guardians. 

We understand there will be disappointment, both for our athletes and families. Your coaches and I share in this disappointment but know that if this short pause allows us to play a full schedule of games it will be well worth it in the end. We plan to make up this game at a future date and will provide more details as soon as possible. Our next scheduled practice will be held on Wednesday, September 8th.
